Ideas for my Dad's 60th Birthday party?

All kids (6) , grandkids (12) will be there. Lots of friends, business ociates and professionals as well. He is on the board of a college, so nothing embarring please. We were thinking of dressing the grandkids in clothes representing each decade. We are lost and need ideas for something really special.
