Question about Indian culture?

Is it a Hindu, Muslim, or Indian practice to leave doors open? I live in an apartment building and most of my neighbors are Indian or Middle Eastern and they insist on propping the outer doors of the building open. I brought this to the attention of the manager, and he sent letters to everyone in the building except me to please close the doors, but it didn't work. I am concerned about animals coming in as there are stray cats in the neighborhood who hang around the trash bin because someone puts their trash on the ground and not in the dumpster, as well as the loss of heat and AC, flies, bees, etc., and it is also a fire hazard. The manager says he is going to talk to the tenants personally, but he has to be very careful not to offend anyone. Is this "open door" policy a religious practice? If it is, should I just throw in the towel and move when my lease is up? I don't want to cause trouble, but this is a health and safety issue.
