Is Rift like World of warcraft?

I've played world of warcraft for 4 years, but the past 3 months I've stopped..one of those phases. I don't like cataclysm and miss the old WoW that I have fond memories of. So I hear rift actually did it right, unlike Warhammer, and many others that claimed to be the WoW killer. I've tried them all it seems, and they always didn't do it for me. I waste 75 bucks, play 2 weeks MAYBE and go back to WoW. Is rift good? I hear its a lot like WoW but better. Idk if i should waste my money AGAIN on a game. i'm starting to kind of miss WoW...
