Is saving yourself for someone you love just something religious people do?

When you look in the mirror, who do you see? If you make decisions and live by them, you will like the person you see in the mirror. I am atheist and have lived by this creed all my life. It's why I don't steal or lie, or anything that would have me feel in anyway poorly about myself.
