What was so bad about the book 1984 by George Orwell?

Depends on what you mean by "bad". If you mean that it was poorly written, etc. then nothing, it was critically acclaimed and is to this day one of my favorite books. However, if you mean from a content standpoint, then what you are probably referring to the scene. Besides that, the book was EXTREMELY bleak and dark, and there were several chapters where a character is tortured. I highly reccomend you read it outside of cl, or if it's because your parents won't let you then it's probably because they don't think you're old/mature enough. Hope that answered you question! ^-^
